'Go Out Big': UWG Soccer Player Balances Athletics, Academics in Final Season
Morgan Haase started kicking a soccer ball soon after she learned to walk. She’s still kicking. The University of West Georgia senior, who plays center back (a defensive position) on the Wolves soccer team, has played soccer for almost the past two decades. At the end of this season, though, she’ll step off the pitch for the last time as a student-athlete.

If she can help it, McKenna Wharton's not going to have a desk job. Her feet are too accustomed to constantly moving to allow that. Wharton, an outside hitter on the University of West Georgia volleyball team, plans to apply to nursing schools after she graduates from UWG in May 2020 with a bachelor's degree in health and community wellness.

When Abby Smithwick steps on the pitch, nothing else in her life matters. The University of West Georgia student-athlete has been playing soccer since she was 5 years old and, as a senior in her last year of eligibility, will be hanging up her cleats at the end of this season.
