Several scholarships are offered through the Tanner Health System School of Nursing. Students are encouraged to read the criteria for each scholarship and apply for those where they meet the criteria. Students may apply for more than one scholarship. The scholarship criteria and application are available below, and the application is due by May 15 each year. Decisions for scholarships awarded by the School of Nursing are made during the Summer semester. Students who receive nursing scholarships will have the award applied to the Fall and Spring semesters. Other scholarship opportunities are posted on the Grapevine homepage under scholarships.
Students applying for Tanner Health System School of Nursing scholarships should also file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form in the Financial Aid office or online. One or two awards of $250.00 to $500.00 to a graduate student seeking an M.S.N. degree. Overall GPA of 3.0.
One or two awards of $250.00 to $500.00 to a graduate student seeking an MSN degree. Student must have overall GPA of 3.0 or better.
In memory of Dennis H. Ayers and Dana Hudson. Multiple scholarships are awarded on the basis of need. May be requested as “emergency” funds throughout the academic year as need arises. Usually awarded as $250, $500, or $1,000 dollar awards.
One or two awards of $250 to $500 dollars to a Licensed Practical Nurse who is furthering their education and seeking a registered nursing degree at the University of West Georgia.
One award annually to a full time nursing student pursuing a BSN or MSN degree who exhibits academic excellence and has the personal qualities necessary to effectively minister to the sick. The only scholarship that is not need-driven. Student must have overall GPA of 3.2 or better.
A $500.00 scholarship will be awarded each year to a student in the Nursing Program who is a resident of Carroll County, and priority will be given to a student who comes from a single parent household.
Nursing major must be a resident of Carroll County or Haralson County. Preference will be given to non-traditional students. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
In appreciation for the military nurses serving in World War II. One or two awards of $500 to $1,000 dollars annually. Preference will be given to those students interested in a military career. General nursing students will be considered in the absence of these candidates.
One award annually to a full time nursing student pursuing a BSN or MSN degree. Student must have overall GPA of 3.0 or better.
One award of $800 dollars annually to a student who is a single parent with a GPA of at least 3.0. Students must have been accepted into the nursing program.
A $500.00 scholarship will be awarded each year to an undergraduate student pursuing a BSN degree. The student must be an employee or the child of an employee of Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica or Paulding Wellstar Hospital.
One or two awards of $1,000 dollars annually to a nursing student.
One award of $500.00 will be awarded each year to an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a BSN or MSN degree. Award may be split and granted to multiple students. Overall GPA must be 3.0 or better. Preference will be given to single parents.
Several awards annually of $1,000 dollars each to mature females seeking a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
Student must be a Junior or Senior majoring in Nursing. Student must also demonstrate financial need as determined by Financial Aid.
This shall be awarded annually to five students. Five (5) $2000.00 scholarships will be awarded each year, $1000.00 per semester. Recipient must be an undergraduate Junior or Senior majoring in Nursing, preference for same student receiving award for two years. Must have overall GPA of 2.5 or higher and does not qualify for HOPE scholarship. Recipient must demonstrate financial need, as screened through Financial Aid, but does not qualify for full federal assistance. Preference for allocation is 1) tuition & fees 2) books 3) housing.
One award of $500 dollars annually to a student majoring in nursing. The student must have been accepted into the nursing program.
One need-based award of $450 dollars annually to a student who has declared a nursing major and who resides in Carroll, Polk, Troup, Heard, Haralson, or Floyd Counties. If no student applicants from these counties are found, eligible students from elsewhere in the State of Georgia will be considered.
The grant shall be used exclusively for the purpose of providing scholarship funds for the education of financially deserving Christian women who are residents of one of the following states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Other Scholarships Available: Bowdon Area Healthcare Scholarship: One award for nursing of $1500 dollars. This is a merit award for healthcare providers who reside in and plan to practice in the Bowden area. Administered by the Biology Department, applications are available in the Biology Department by February 1 each year. The application deadline is March 1.
